Many teachers often face confusion when they have to search ways and techniques of ‘how to motivate students’. Motivating students is a great challenge for all teachers. All the students in one single classroom are different in terms of family, caste, background, interests, learning styles and intelligence. Therefore, some common ways have to be paved in order to confront and motivate all students together.

The first thing that teachers can do is expect students to achieve some reasonable objectives in the classrooms. Teacher’s expectations drive students to work hard and set higher goals. Then, teachers can show them different ways of achieving success by adjusting the class work and instruction according to the student’s need.

One of the other way of motivating students is to make them realize the relevance of studies in their real life. Let them explore their experiences and make them understand different aspects of life that is influenced by their level of education.

Discussion, debate and engaging questions can also help to motivate students. Let students come out with different questions and expand their knowledge. Clarify their doubts and give them opportunities to explore wisdom. Try incorporating different styles and strategies of learning and gaining wisdom.

Rewards and privileges also work as great motivational tools for students. Teachers can use these tools under various circumstances to promote student participation and inspire them to work hard. Teachers can give rewards and prizes on birthdays or during exams for toppers. Pizza party or any other party once a month can also increase student’s interaction with teachers which further helps in motivating students.
